Picking up my art tomorrow from Centro Multicultural La Familia.

I am going to pick up the art that did not sell at the silent auction. It is the second year that I participate in the event to raise funds for the Center. I am excited to meet with the staff and director. It is a wonderful organization, check them out if you are in Pontiac.

image.jpgI have a desire to draw people. My friend Rosalia is battling cancer. She wears turbans which are great and she looks wonderful. I draw her with flowers and jewlwery, a rebozo. She is delicate so I turn it up a little. image.jpg

Update 2016

I’m working on drawing brains for an office. Very cool professor. Most of my summer is drawing and sketching. I need to get some sun in as I discovered that I have a severe vitamin D deficiency. Too much time in the studio, I need to move the studio outside.

My art featured in a video by Sacramento Knoxx for “Latinos to College”

I saw my art in a promotional video, below is the video featuring my “Zapatistas Tears,” with a filter, this is the O.G. painting:26173_335691570325_7626403_n

Art Show at Lansing Community College

I won an art competition at Lansing Community College. The competition called for Women Artists in honor of Women’s History Month. The prize was nice and I am excited to have won. I have had people come through and look at my art. The school is purchasing a piece, they are leaning towards “Aqui Vivo Yo” which is a favorite for everyone. I am currently working on a print version of that painting. I have friends who came through and I made a few fans. This is really cool, and I made an effort to get supplies and frame the pictures.

Okay so I hope that the Broken Woman Series would of took the prize, but that is okay. I met a lot of wonderful people at the Center for Engaged Inclusion at LCC. A big thank you to Ana, Anne, Michelle, Dave, and my friends and family.

Dona Maria Luisa

Honduran woman profile

She has her children in Honduras and she is a divorced woman here putting two sons’ through medical school. Her third son is in primary school, he is an American citizen who is very smart but is teased for not speaking perfect Spanish. He wants to return to the U.S. to see her, she had been out of work. She was not afraid, she would not give up. I admired her so much for her inner peace, for her forgiveness.
